During the war with Legion, a number of "lesser" races were conscripted into the GA's army to fight on the front lines as grunts. Kobolds, Orcs, Ogres, Trolls, Dark Elves, and the like were used as cannon fodder against the Legion horde, and when the war ended, they were kept there and treated the same way. Eventually, large groups revolted and took control of a few star systems. At first, the GA tried to fight them, but when the armies they sent at them turned to their side, the Golden Alliance instead agreed to release all the other "lesser" races and recognize the independence of the star systems, in what became known as the Castaways Treaty. The group formed from that group is known as the CTS, and harbors anyone who rebels against their master. After learning culture, the CTS races declared themselves one race, Redeemed from the horrors of war. Many Redeemed students are at MSF High, and they are well known for their unshakable loyalty to their friends.
Powers
Hide in Shadows: Keeping out of the way and out of the light are the same thing to a Redeemed. As they get stronger, they are more and more able to disappear into any shadows nearby. The only problem with this power arises when there's no darkness around for them to duck into.
Darkness Acclamation: Redeemed are accustomed to nocturnal lifestyles, and can see perfectly well where others see total darkness. While it doesn't actually provide a bonus, this power eliminates more and more of the penalties for bad lighting or blindness as they get stronger.
