Erick Nicholson came to MSF High in his original body, from an Altearth that was not aware of any other races. While he was amazed at the diversity he saw in the school's student body, he was disappointed that he was still so plain. However, he was still able to study the forms of the new beings, and took to painting, a talent that he developed with remarkable skill. He painted a pretty, red-skinned Deviling girl and hung the picture over his desk, her mischievous smile greeting him as he awoke the next morning. As he looked at the picture again, he noticed something he had not seen before--The girl in the picture was wearing a spiked black leather collar. Intrigued by the sudden addition to his work of art, he searched through the city's stores for a collar that would match the one in the painting. He eventually found it, hanging on the back wall of a clothing store. He quickly purchased the collar and as he exited the store, he felt a strange compulsion to put the collar on. As he latched it to his neck, a burning sensation spread over his throat, thinning it as it turned his skin red. His entire body shifted, his clothes loosening and tightening around his body as it shifted into a sexy female form and his shirt ripping apart as huge, leathery wings spread from his backside. As the transformation finished, her eyes glowed and she flashed a familiar mischievous grin, the new Deviling heading back into the clothing store to purchase a wardrobe more appropriate to her new body. When she finally returned to her dorm room, the picture was no longer on the wall, but the woman that Erick had created out of respect for her beauty and free spirit was brought into being, giving the new Deviling, Maria Darklight, the unique body she had hoped for.
