The Angelic Protectorate (AP)

The brightest stars in the center of the galaxy are the home for most of the Milky Way's Divine races. They've had interstar travel for tens of thousands of years, but until their presence was necessary to eliminate the threat posed by Legion, they traveled only between their own systems. After the war with Legion ended, the AP became the police force for the GA, patrolling systems with their huge battleships. The AP is itself governed by a caste system consisting of three ranks of influence, each with three divisions of Divine within it. The caste divisions are as follows:

First Sphere

Thrones: Serving as the senators of the AP, a single governing body of Thrones make all the political decisions within the systems the AP controls. These Thrones are divided into two different senates, an Executive branch which handles the enforcing of laws and the punishing of those who break them, and a Judicial branch which creates the laws.
Cherubim: Though they appear as children, Cherubim all sit at the helms of the enormous battleships that lead AP fleets. These ships are given point defenses and orbital bombarment equipment, but not any fighter wings or other ships under their permanent command. Instead, they are assigned groups of smaller ships as needed, and their command over them as lost as the need for them is. AP battleships, however, are only sent out when there is important work to be done, so if it is bringing backup, it will have an incredible fleet. These battleships are given God-inferring names to inspire awe to the people living below, and adding truth to the promises that "God's Will" or "The Wrath of Heaven" will rain down destruction on the heathens.
Seraphim: Seraphims are the most well-known first-sphere members of the AP, most likely because of their high visibility. Seraphims use their powers to sway natives towards their side and lead the AP's ground forces into battle, taking part themselves as they coordinate their own armies and orbital strikes from the battleships above. Even with all the distractions of command, they are fearsome fighters who can take to the skies at will with their awe-inspiring wingspan.

Second Sphere

Virtues: Virtues act as diplomats and liasons to all other cultures, and oftentimes between the first-sphere groups themselves. They are considered VIPs while onboard any battleship, and attacking one of these battleships is an even more grave offense when it carries a Virtue. Public relations is job one with the Virtues, and they insure that everyone else in the galaxy knows that the side they're on is the side of righteousness and justice.
Dominions: Technical-type Divine called Dominions act as all types of engineers, designing, building, and repairing bases and ships. Normally, higher-ranked Dominions Design and oversee construction on a single battleship each, then stay aboard as lead maintenance worker. Their word is law when it comes to what a ship can and can't do, and They are the first to know when something goes wrong. Some say that they can talk to their own ships, which they're very possessive of, but others claim that the Dominions are just a little too obsessed with their creations.
Powers: Working as intelligence-gatherers within the AP and the rest of the galaxy, Powers are the closest thing there are to Divine spies. The smallest ships in their fleets belong to them, relatively small scout ships that are still as large as most factions' heavy bombers. Further divisions in the caste system determine for whom each Power collects information, and there are groups of them working for nearly every first-sphere Divine.

Third Sphere

Angels: The most common rank within the AP is that of the Angels. While they are normally used as workers within the AP's own cities, they can be conscripted as grunt-level soldiers and given non-officer positions onboard starships. Even if their skill level exceeds that of another Divine rank, they are never put in command of a unit or ship, though they're trained to expect that throughout their lives.
Archangels: Trained since birth for combat, Archangels make up the largest part of the AP's army, unless a war causes hordes of normal angels to be conscripted. Archangels' wings can support them emough to lift them a few yards into the air, and they are trained to use the height advantage as best they can.
Principalities: Principalities are best described as civil servants who make up a national guard force when need be. They are normally trained in an area of expertise dealing with the processes of everyday life, such as construction work or tax collecting, and are also trained to defend the cities they work on in the case of invasion. They're rarely sent out into battle elsewhere, as losing the homefield advantage makes them relatively poor soldiers.
