Amid huge leaps in technological development, the GA independently develops an effective intelligent fighting robot. They are cranked out by the million, but a cunning group of Deviling hackers makes matters worse by using a flaw in their communications network to infect them with a virus that gives them low-level sentience. Many of the mecha choose not to fight, leaving the GA armies once again without an effective amount of troops. Some of the rogue Mecha choose to stay with the Devilings, some become pirates themselves, and a huge portion of them petition to join the CTS systems, a request that is granted. Most Mecha take up residence in sattelites, real and artificial, around the CTS planets' moons. The event serves only to prolong the "war".
